Published 2010–The Illustrated Encyclopaedia of the Sidesaddle! Over 200 pages of saddles, accessories, attire notes, history, biography, and riding.  Sidesaddle spans several continents and many centuries, with consequent difficulties for modern horsemen and horsewomen consulting older texts; the fact that sidesaddle spans all disciplines can create another language obstacle.  This encyclopaedia provides a quick reference with hundreds of photos and illustrations to help the sidesaddle enthusiast (as well as those who show model horses with specialized or period turn-out, I’m told!)  Each paperback copy is numbered (from a printing of 1150), and autographed by the author.

Also included is a glossary of period attire; a guide to modern sidesaddle attire; a selection of particularly unusual sidesaddles; an extensive bibliography; and a list of sidesaddle organizations throughout North America and worldwide.

The author, Rhonda Watts Hettinger, is a licensed instructor with the American Riding Instructors Association (Level III Sidesaddle, Reining, Riding to Hounds); “A” Instructor and Panel Judge with the UK Side Saddle Association; and Instructor with the American Sidesaddle Association. She is also a director of the American Sidesaddle Association (www.americansidesaddleassociation.org) whose mission is to preserve the art of sidesaddle riding; foster community and exchange of information amongst sidesaddle riders; promote and support the efforts of regional sidesaddle groups; and serve as a resource to sidesaddle enthusiasts by archiving and disseminating information which should never be lost.  The Illustrated Encyclopaedia of the Sidesaddle is intended to provide exactly this sort of archive.  ASA will receive $1 from the sale of each Encyclopaedia.
