On May 1, GALA members attended a Kentucky Derby Party/Potluck at the Hutcherson’s house in Atlanta. Attendees were Angela and David Waldroup, Steve and Stephanie Hutcherson, Duffie Yarbrough, Elliot and Pam James, Michelle Allan, and Sandy and Charlie Ross. We had wonderful appetizers and beverages throughout the race, provided by the Ross’s and Michelle. The Waldroups, Pam, and Duffie brought great side items and desserts. Steve, another awesome GALA cook, made Kentucky Hot Browns in honor of the event, using the authentic 1926 recipe from the historic Brown Hotel in Louisville. Yummy!
Millionaire’s Row at Churchill Hill Downs had nothing on GALA! We had gorgeous hats and dresses too! There were some wonderful hats for our hat contest. The winner, for multiplicities of hats including an Octupus hat, was Duffie who received a copy of Seabisquit. We had sidesaddle pins for our second place tie. Can you believe Sandy and her husband, Charlie pulled the trifecta out of a hat?
